Will Lightning Strike Twice?

Last week I saw Liza Colby Sound over at Lola. What a show it was. It was just crisp and powerful. Tight. Liza and the band always rock. This was special. They were just on fire. Perhaps that smoke was not from the machine, but the band on the verge of spontaneous combustion.

For my money, what made it special was a hint of quiet. Slowness. Almost. Those brief moments, just fractions of a second really make a difference. Just a hint was all that was needed.

Such pauses, such shifts to a lower gear just make you feel the power, the acceleration, that much more. There is a reason the commercial tells you the time it takes to get from 0 to 60. It is felt. It was felt last Thursday.

Now I am looking forward to this Friday at Berlin. See if lightning does strike twice. Though we were in Lola last week. There is no doubt it will be a good show. The question is how good.

Then there are my issues. The end of the week is more of a challenge now. It use to be Thursday and Friday. Now just Friday requires some thought. I have to consider the winds and start tacking early.

Regardless, this Friday it is Berlin.
