‘Uh Oh, It’s The Coolies’

My very first Dawson’s Pick will be the phenomenal pop punk album ‘Uh Oh, It’s The Coolies’ EP. ( Wicked Cool Records).

This fantastic July, 2019 release is everything you want in power pop with a punk edge. Including the band members. Kim Shattuck (Vocals, Bass, Guitar and Harmonica), Melanie Vammen ( Bass, Guitar, Organ, Vocals) Palmyra Delran ( Vocals, Guitar, Drums, Sitar)

So tragically, Kim Shattuck, a former Singer and Bassist for one of my favorite bands, The Pixies, passed away in October, 2019 after a two year struggle with ALS. The proceeds for this album go to ALS research.

Melanie Vammen also featured on this gem – she played with The Muffs and also with another fave of mine, The Pandora’s. My fellow NJ born gal, Palmyra Delran evens out this power trio. Palmyra played with the great band The Friggs from 1990-2000 and Pink Slip Daddy.

She’s been releasing solo records which rank amongst several ‘Coolest Songs in the World’ on the very popular Sirius Radio show ‘Little Steven’s Underground Garage’ starting with ‘Baby Should Have Known Better’ and continuing on with ‘You’re My Brian Jones’.
