A Show I should get up, and go see. . .
I have gotten too comfortable sitting at hime doing nothing. There is a large dose of that going on here. It would do the heart and soul well to get down, get out.
That said, I am finally sitting here writing something. At least I was till I wandered onto Facebook and saw this show being advertised. . . I do intend on getting my project done. It is but a small piece of a larger project I am trying to make happen. All dealing with academic philosophy and focusing on morals vs norms. I digress. . .
Anyway, F*Bomb is always a good show and a just a novel thing. It is not a band but a troupe of musicians and performers who together pay tribute to various rock n’roll acts. Tonight they are doing Nirvana.
Worth checking out but what I really want to see is the act they got starting up the night. That would be GSX, which I recall from like 2007 or so. Back then they rocked. They had already released their album “Manifest” when I had caught up with them. Just a tight band with a certain vision. “Too Far”, “Breach”, “Bringin Me Down”, and which ended with “Sicko”. They were just coming a different musical place. Hard rock but so different from what I was listening to. It was was so cool to watch them at Don Hills, Fontana’s and other places. The energy and passion were there but just done differently. That is the pleasure of all this.
All of that was yikes. . . 18 years back? Holy shit. That said, I saw an updated version of them a year or two back at Arlenes. It was again an F*Bomb gig. That one involving Alice Cooper. Sarah is still the ringleader, doing the vocals and rhythm guitar. It is largely her project though that is an open question regarding how that all works. Regardless, GSX today has a new single and new album on the way. They just played with Geezer up in Woodstock, which features Pat Harrington, another veteran of the NYC music scene (Slunt, Gaggle of Cocks, etc.)
Nirvana is cool but GSX is why I wish I was there.
It was GSX that I was first introduced to Chris Goerke too.
