I Might have seen the Future and it is a Sports Bar
This past week I have been making calls, trying to find a venue to do the next batch of shows, tied to the Feast of Noise ‘Rocks’ CD Compilation. The calls continue and we are hoping that November is the month we finally put something together.
In the course of those calls, however, I did find something totally unexpected-a new venue in Yonkers-the Westchester Sports Bar and Grille. I went and checked it out that same night. My first night over there and three local original bands playing. Three local original bands-that is amazing up here in Yonkers. Down in the city that is a typical night at many a place. It was simply great to see three bands doing their thing in a Westchester venue!
Add to this that the place is big. Perhaps a 100 feet wide by 300 feet deep and that is just the space for the bands. Then there is a whole other side which is the ‘sports bar and grille’, a place to relax a bit, maybe watch a game and get some food. We may not be talking rocket science but it was so nice to see a place that is interested in music-rock music right here in Westchester, able to do other things.
Did I mention that the PA is right there-set up, ready to go. For the bands coming in, they do not need to worry about a PA. It is always a challenge getting a sound system in there. In The Westchester Sports Bar and Grille, the stage is big and with some basic lighting, the PA is there, and the bar is elevated. And the crowd was there-not too bad for a Wednesday night. and the space is there for bigger crowds. There is room for growth.
So in my travels around Westchester, the Westchester Sports Bar and Grille at 320 Yonkers Avenues looks very verry promising. Hopefully, it continues to bring in the original talent, and who knows maybe brings in some national and regional rockers. We shall have to see, and have no fear, I will be reaching out to them to see what wild west promotions and Feastofnoise.com can offer and do with them.
