A New Yardbird
It was this date back in 1965 that Jeff Beck joined the Yardbirds. He was replacing Eric Clapton, who went on to join John Mayall’s Bluesbreakers and after that Cream. Beck was the Yardbird’s second choice. They had reached out to Jimmy Page, who at that time was enjoying his session work. It was Page who introduced them to Beck. Jeff Beck was 20 years old.
Imagine if there were not a band called the Yardbirds.
