Palaye Royale
This week’s ’Dawson’s Pick’ was a clear winner of several I considered writing about. I love rock and roll. The dirtier, the grittier, the better.
I’m always looking for new rock bands that stand out but quite frankly, not many new (ish) bands do.
Welcome to Palaye Royale. While this Canadian/American outfit began in 2008, their journey has been interesting.
Founded in Las Vegas by brothers Remington Leith, Sebastian Danzig and Emerson Barrett, this is hard driven, dirty and gritty rock and roll with clear sonic influences of The Heartbreakers, Johnny Thunders and The Stooges mixed with more current bands like My Chemical Romance. Their performances are theatrical, symbolic characterizations of personalities. Their bio tells of the story of their rise from opening act to inevitable headliner, lauded by many such as Rodney Bingenheimer to Kim Fowley.
Watching their live videos is a real treat, and to get you started let’s include two official videos.
